JOKO AT 22

What has not changed through the years? For me, it is your smile!

It is again another year ... this time, you are grown-up indeed, having made a very important decision in your life.

I believe God has now shown us that your decision is a wise one!

Continue to pray for enlightenment and guidance as you encounter new experiences and challenges as this chapter unfolds.

But then, remember that you are still so young...

Open your mind and heart as you...
Learn, Learn from everyone and everything!
Be diligent...be passionate...be enthusiastic...be strategic!

Never lose sight of your DREAM!

But, most of all, have a positive outlook and enjoy life as you focus and do all you can to achieve your goals!

We you! We are here for you! 😘😘😘

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DR. NAPOLEON G. RICAMORA

Today is my Dad’s —- Dr Napoleon G. Ricamora’s birth anniversary!
Daddy was born last January 3, 1926, and he is supposed to be 93 years old today!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY in heaven!

A most wonderful person, really loving Dad and great husband (according to Mommy Lucy) as well as a remarkable Radiologist and Administrator.

His parents are Pedro Ricamora of Ronda, Cebu and Timothea Gador Ricamora of Moalboal, Cebu.

He studied at Silliman University in Dumaguete City then at the Manila Central University for his Pre Med course. He graduated as Doctor of Medicine at the University of Santo Tomas in 1954.

In the late 50s, he was a pioneer Radiologist at the Southern Islands Hospital in Cebu City ( later Southern Islands Medical Center and now Vicente Sotto Medical Center) and one of the pillars of the Philippine College of Radiology Visayas- Mindanao in the 60s and thereafter. He was also a Professor of Radiology at the SWU Matias H Aznar Memorial College of Medicine (MHAM).  He even became one of the Philippine Board of Radiology examiners!

He further trained in Sydney, Australia (for three months) and in the Royal Marsden Hospital in the United Kingdom (for a year) for Nuclear Medicine.

Thus, in the 70s, he was the pioneer in Nuclear Medicine in the Visayas and Mindanao, with practice at Cebu Doctors’ Hospital for several years. He was also very active with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Philippine Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) now Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI).

In the 80s, he continued as Radiologist at Southern Islands Medical Center (since the 50s), San Miguel Corporation and Atlas Mining Hospital. He became Chief of Clinics at SIMC now Vicente Sotto Medical Center until became OIC Chief of Hospital.

After his stint as SIMC Chief of Hospital, he became Head of the San Miguel Corporation Medical based in Mandaue, Cebu and serving Visayas and Mindanao, in the mid to late 80s until the early 1990s for his retirement.  He was an active leader and member of the Occupational Medicine initiatives and with the Philippine Medical Association Cebu Chapter during that period.

Thanks to my Dad who always brought me along, I have had early experiences around Southern Islands especially with the SIMC Department of Surgery and Out Patient Department and also with Corporate Social Responsibility through SMC.

I remember being part of San Miguel’s medical missions and outreach programs to Tacloban, Leyte to Guiwan, Samar, Roxas City and Bantayan Island, Cebu (via chopper and private planes)!after the super typhoon, Yoling reminiscent of Yolanda’s path!  ... and saw The Probe Team with the San Miguel group in Samar.

Dr NAPOLEON GADOR RICAMORA was able to taste the best of both worlds in his profession and more. He reached heights as OIC Chief of Hospital in one of the largest government hospital in Visayas and Mindanao, now Vicente Sotto Medical Center and also as Chief of Medical in one of the most renowned private corporations in the country, San Miguel Corporation serving Visayas and Mindanao and also as a professor and Radiologist (including Nuclear Med) known among his Philippine College of Radiology colleagues from Luzon to Mindanao!

He was legendary as a Radiologist up to the end reading X-rays even when he had emphysema and attached to the ventilator (for almost 7 years)!

He had a well-lived life!!!
He was indeed able to organize his time well as Radiologist and Administrator and for his family!

These are just some highlights of his professional career and I am very proud to be the daughter of DR. NAPOLEON G. RICAMORA.

Truly an INSPIRATION!!!
