" You can complain because a rose has thorns, or you can rejoice because thorns have a rose."
Unknown
" At every step the child should be
allowed to meet the real experience of life; the thorns should never be plucked
from his roses."
Ellen Key
" Love Planted a rose,
And the world turned sweet,
Where the wheatfield blows
Love planted a rose.
Up the mill-wheel's prose
Ran a music beat.
Love planted a rose,
And the world turned sweet."
And the world turned sweet,
Where the wheatfield blows
Love planted a rose.
Up the mill-wheel's prose
Ran a music beat.
Love planted a rose,
And the world turned sweet."
Katharine Lee Bates
I love watching the roses
of whatever kind or color...
These roses appear wild and free...
I think these are English roses.
I love the smell of the rose...
I even love it when they make it into perfumes.
I always think they are so sweet.
But, they always remind us of the thorns!
Yes, they are there...
Let us just be careful not to be pricked!
As they say, rejoice the thorn has a rose!
And don't take away the thorns from the rose...
just like a child, let them experience life as it is!
Yes, life has its bits of painful experiences,
but the beauty of life is too colossal
that this obscures the pains
that we may encounter through the years!

Nice shots. The photos remind me of my elementary days when we needed to maintain a garden and rose was one of my favorite plants. Tapos pink pa!
ReplyDeleteThose roses are so beautiful! I would have had a hard time resisting the urge to pluck them for myself. But a photograph preserves them for us for a long time :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful roses, and beautiful poems, too. Thank you for sharing. :-)

ReplyDeleteThe roses seem very vulnerable in your photos.

I love roses ever since but I love how you add caption to the beautiful pictures. Meaningful!
ReplyDeleteI love the first quote. We tend dwell on the negative when there is a positive side of things. :D
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures and wonderful prose. I myself am guilty of protecting my little ones from 'thorns'. I'm even hesitant to let them run around and play like all children do for fear that they might stumble and get hurt. You're right though, we have to let them experience life as it - thorns and all.
ReplyDeletenice picture.. you just captured the beauty of the rose perfectly.. I remember we have a rose plant before.. I wish I will find time to plant flowering plants again
ReplyDeleteRoses in France? I want to go there too! And I choose to believe in the latter, we must rejoice because the thorns have roses :)
ReplyDeleteGreat info and great starting line. It's about what you think and see at this flower, either the thorn or the rose flower itself.
ReplyDeleteRoses are really lovely flowers. There are great for all ocassions
ReplyDeleteGenerally I love flowers, thorns or none. Rose is my top favorite. It's like just seeing a glass half full or half empty. :) Flowers are one of God's prettiest creations. :) nice photos dear! :)
